Life Time Fitness, Warrenville will be hosting Sunday morning Group Bike Rides starting in April for the
benefit of LTF members.  These informal bike rides will be held at various locations throughout the year.
There will be group leaders for each ride, but all riders are expected to have a basic knowledge of bike
riding and riding safely on the roads.  All riders must have a helmet in order to join our group.  The rides
will usually consist of three rides at any one session with each ride grouped according to distance and
pace.  Rides will usually take from one to two hours.  As with all of our programs & activities, riders are
responsible for their own safety.  It is important that your bike is well maintained and fits the rider correctly.
This is a great opportunity for club members to have the opportunity to ride with other club members.
Bike riding is generally safer with more riders.  We invite any bike rider to join us, but please no small
children.

For more information or if you would like to volunteer as a group leader, please contact our Group Bike
Coordinator, Suzy (suzycerra@yahoo.com).

The following is a summary of our August 6, 2006 Group Ride:

The August, 2006 BBQ group ride was hosted by Maureen and Dave Bruce in Sugar Grove.  Prior to the ride, Coach Joe
lead a bike clinic. He covered basic bike maintenance, cleaning and how to change a tire. He gave an informative handout
to the attendees.  We had three ride groups. Maureen mapped out three routes in the country west of Sugar Grove.  The
route was on very smooth roads with very little traffic.  Steve T. lead a fast group that rode about 30 miles,
Jeanne B. and Katie G. were co-leaders for a 25 mile group that rode at a moderate/slow pace and Maureen B and Coach
Joe were co-leaders for a group that rode 15 miles.  We had between 30 and 35 riders.

After riding, we had a very nice potluck BBQ at Maureen and Dave B's home.  Some riders brought their children who
played together at Maureen and Dave B's home during the ride.
Although it rained during part of the BBQ, everyone had a great time!  Maureen said she'd like to host another ride next
year!  I would like to give special thanks to Maureen and Dave for hosting the event.  Also - thanks to Coach Joe, Maureen,
Katie G. and Steve T. for serving as ride leaders.
